FAQ'S for Hot Tubs
Q. How do I look after my Hot Tub?
A. Our H2O team can advise you fully, however it is essential that you carry out regular water checks and keep your filters clean. H2O offer 2 fantastic maintenance contracts whereby the time and inconvenience of draining, cleaning and maintaining your Hot Tub is eliminated. If you would like to know more about this service visit service contracts page or call our showroom.
Q. Can I wire and connect my Hot Tub supply myself?
A. From 2005 it has been a legal requirement that all electrical work in the home must be carried out by a registered organisation where the employee’s are competent electrician/s. The organisation must be registered under Part P of the building regulations. Please note that H2O is part of Cannings and all of our electricians carry the Part P certificate.
Q. What is the importance of sanitizing my Hot Tub water?
A. Sanitising the water is vital in any Hot Tub, regardless of the brand. The temperature of the water, along with the bather usage will mean that bacteria and fungus may be present. The sanitizers we recommend are Chlorine and Bromine. If used correctly these are the most effective without causing irritation and safe to use. Visit our Sanitisers on our online shop

FAQ'S for Pools
Q. When do I close and open my swimming pool?
A. It can be dependant on several factors, but generally assuming it is an outdoor pool that has been design for seasonal use, May to September is most common but obviously the weather can govern this greatly.
The main factor to bear in mind is to allow 2-4 weeks to get the pool open for use and once it is ready it has to be maintained/heated and serviced irrespective of use.
Q. My pool has turned green, help?
A. Your pool turning green is generally the sign of algae growth within the water; there are various stages of this from ‘pea soup’ to slight water change. The best advice for a serious colour change is to consult you pool specialist for professional advice or you could through time and money away.
For the later then this is easily remedied by either super chlorinating the pool water (Calcium Hypochlorite) or using a specialist product to kill the algae (Guardex True Blue).
Once this has been applied carefully following the dosing instruction on the product then ensure the pool water is filtration to SPATA standards or even run to system 24/7 during this process remembering to regularly backwash the filter.
Within 24hrs the algae should be killed and a water quality beginning to return, so test and dose as usual for water balance accordingly.
If you find with a couple of days that even though you have good water balance it is still cloudy then don’t panic, this is just dead suspended particles that the sand cannot trap, simple use a Aluminum Sulphate (Floc) product which coagulates them in to bigger ones and can be vacuumed out or trapped but the filter and clarity will be returned.
Q. How do I maintain my pool?
A. A pool just like your car requires regular maintenance, it is important to take the approach of ‘little and often’ and you should test and adjust your water balance at least once a day or directly after use (never add chemicals before use).
Your water balance works in harmony with the filtration and should be designed to turn the water over a certain amount of times per day (Consult you pool specialist for this calculation to SPATA standards) but a rule of thumb is between 6-8 hours per day.
Most installations have a strainer basket in the skimmer pots and pump which require cleaning weekly for debris and the sand filter will need backwashing at the same time, remembering to top the pool up afterwards if water is lost.
Final use your net to remove large debris from the pool surface and floor and vacuum weekly.
